Editor’s Note

This is the first edition of the bi-annual journal of West Bengal Political Science Association. A lot of thinking has gone behind changing the annual edition of the West Bengal Political Science Review into a bi-annual one. One of the primary reasons was to boost the journal as a serious academic exercise underpinned by rigour and quality. An academic journal showcases academic plurality, it needs to reach out to political scientists far and wide encouraging in academic discourses, conversations, debates and analysis not only for the sake of political scientists but for the sake of political science. So, the bi annual journal from hereon will be an academic platform for political scientists and any other academic who is interested in academic analysis of political events, developments, trends and even history. The idea is to have a continuous flow of ideas and opinions about plethora of topics ranging from cyber security to right education, from political thought and thinkers to politics of gender, from environmental issues to under sea connectivity, only to mention a few. However, while interdisciplinary is encouraged but locating the politics of things is the inviolable mandate. No academic exercise is essentialist one, no research paper is an end in itself but only a building block of various academic discourse(s) within political science. Thus conversations, debates rethinking and re-searching needs to continue. With this view I and my editorial colleagues wish the bi annual version of this journal a successful journey of visibility that would make serious contribution to the academic conversations of our discipline.
